Guess Who's Back?

Of course this would be Brett Favre! He's the most indecisive player EVER in the history of sports. It's ironic that he's so indecisive, a horrible quality for a quarterback. Actually, I wanted to bring up something else; ESPN has changed into a melodramatic news station. They milked the hell out of LeBron going to the heat, report on Tim Tebow everyday, and talk about Brett Favre's indecision every single day! ESPN's analysts constantly changed their predictions about where LeBron would go, and this just added to unnecessary hype and drama, which ultimately will cost the city of Cleveland millions of dollars and heartbreaks. Tim Tebow is a third string quarterback, yet he gets a story every day. Brett Favre is a crazy old redneck who can't decide whether he wants to retire or not, but I DO NOT want to hear about any of this EVERY day. Why can't ESPN be like it used to be, analyzing the sports themselves. I liked when highlights of a game weren't just a one minute clip and that was the end of it. Now, they're focused on these drama queens. It would be OK if they weren't shown every day, but ESPN is focusing on them too much. The anchors are still doing great though, this problem is with the producers or whoever it concerns. I wrote this poorly so you might not understand or be completely against this, so that's fine, but if you understand what I'm getting at then that's great.

Kaymer Wins at Whisting Straits

Martin Kaymer won the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in Wisconsin in a three hole playoff. This playoff included Bubba Watson, but did not include Dustin Johnson, who was assessed a two stroke penalty after the final hole in which he was tied for the lead. The penalty was for grounding his club, but the spot where he hit from was not clearly a bunker, as it was trampled by the masses the entire tournament. The course has over 1,000 bunkers, so it is very difficult to determine the difference between a bunker and not a bunker sometimes. Watson birdied the first hole of the playoff with a Kaymer par. Kaymer birdied the second playoff hole, and Watson hit a par. The final playoff hole was a five tough 500 yard par four. Both drove right, and Watson went for it on his second shot and hit it into the water. Kaymer won the tourney with a bogey, while Watson double bogeyed. Tiger and Phil both finished in the middle of the pack.
Any thoughts? What do you think of the year of the twenty year old golfer?

Revis sitting out

In an interview, Jets owner Woody Johnson said his gut feeling is that Darrelle Revis will not be on the field this season. His current deal is for one million this year. He wants to be the highest paid corner in the league, which is fifteen million a year. He is holding out of training camp, and has accumulated 148,000 dollars in fines already. All signs say a deal is not close. This would be a huge hurt to a great Jets defense, which may be the best in the league. Without Revis island, the Jets super bowl chances take a huge hit.
Any predictions as to what will happen?

Tiger Struggles

Tiger Woods participated in the Bridgestone Invitational this weekend at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, and had his worst performance of his career. Since there is no cut at the Bridgestone, Tiger played all four rounds, and shot an 18 over. This also included a final round 77. Prior to this weekend, he had played this invitational ten times, and won it seven times. He had also finished in the top ten all ten times. This weekend he finished 78th, second to last. He played so poorly, it is tough to think he will ever return to form. Please post your comments or insight on this shocking turn of events.

Favre Retires!?

Is Brett Favre actually retired? That is what reports are saying, as he has reportedly texted some teammates and coaches from the team. This is certainly not the first time he has retired, and until I actually see him not on the field week one. The Iron Man has played the most consecutive games by a quarterback in NFL history by more than 100 games over Peyton Manning. The Iron Man also has the most wins all time by a quarterback.
Share your opinions on whether or not he will be on the field week one.

Another NBA Star Chastised

Following Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert's bashing of LeBron James after the superstar left Cleveland for South Beach, another team has sent its former superstar a message. Toronto Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo has given his own harsh words to his former superstar Chris Bosh, who also joined the Heat. Colangelo said Bosh chose not to play down the stretch when the team was fighting for the final playoff spot in the East. They ended up finishing ninth in the league, one game out of the playoffs. Colangelo says Bosh was cleared to play and decided he was not ready to go. This is another shot at the core of the Heat. I suppose time will tell how it will work out.
Do you see any response to their former teams from either LeBron or Bosh?

Dan Haren traded to the Angles for a package including starter Joe Saunders. Interesting trade as the Angels are currently six games out of first place.
ROY OWALT ACCEPTS DEAL TO PHILLIES, WAVING NO-TRADE CLAUSE
The Phillies will receive J.A. Happ in the deal along with prospects. The Astros will pay 11 of the 23 million left on the contract. Oswalt did not demand the Phillies pick up the 16 million dollar option for 2013 as was previously reported.
The Twins have acquired Nationals closer Matt Capps. In the deal was highly regarded catching prospect Wilson Ramos, who was stuck behind Mauer. We will now see if Jon Raush will retain his closing job. This trade certainly bolsters the Twins bullpen.

Phillies Making a Move?

The Phillies hinted on Tuesday that they are moving in on acquiring a starting pitcher, and all signs point to Roy Oswalt. This will be closure on a bad deal for the Phillies, who gave away Cliff Lee in the off season because of salary troubles. He is making nine million this year. Roy Oswalt has a fourteen million dollar salary this year. If they were to make this trade, they would get a worse pitcher than Cliff Lee for a higher salary. Ouch. They would also have to give hitting away in this deal, most likely to a third team to make the deal work. Jason Worth would most likely be traded. He is making around seven million dollars this year, but would be a huge hole missing in the lineup is traded. Jamie Moyer left last nights game with an injury, and they also optioned pitcher Kyle Kendricks to the minors. The Phillies are currently seven games behind the Braves in their division, and four out in the wild card.
Do you think this trade will help or hurt them. If you think it will help, will they be able to make the playoffs and contend for a championship?

The NL won?!

The National League won its first All-Star game since 1996! That's an incredible streak the American League had going. What contributed to this NL win? Well it was most certainly the pitching, they gave up no earned runs. Kuo let the only AL run, but it was on his own throwing error. This was the lowest scoring game since 1997, and it's because the NL pitching was too good, even for the more offensive AL hitters. So now the NL gets home field advantage in the World Series. Padres vs. Yankees?

And The World Champions are...

Spain won its first world cup ever by defeating Netherland 1-0 in extra time. they game was scoreless when John Heitinga of the dutch was sent off with two yellows in the 109th minute . the goal was finally scored in the 116th minute by Andres Iniesta. the game was slow and dull for the most part there were few chances and when they came all but one was blown. this world cup will go down, not for being the best or most exciting but for being the first one on african soil

other fact and interesting bits...
  • Thomas Muller(Germany) is the winner of the Golden Boot with 5 goals(Highest goal total)
  • Diego Forlan (Uruguay) is the winner of the Golden Ball(best player in tournament)
  • Iker Casillas(Spain) is the winner of the Golden Glove(best goalie in tournament)
  • Spain also adds the FIFA Fair Play Award to the trophy case
  • New Zealand is the only team in the world cup to not lose a game

LeBron To Miami

The biggest free agent ever is going to south beach. He will team up with dwayne wade and chris bosh to form the best 3 team due since pippen jordan and rodmen.

Boozer to bulls

Carlos Boozer is heading to the bulls in a 5 year 80 million dollar deal. This is a big piece to fall in to place for the bulls. but in this free agency period period is LeBron and how much impact will this have in LeBron's decision is yet to be seen.

How much impact do you think will this have on LeBron's decision?

The Final is set

Not a completely powerhouse match like Brazil and Spain or the story line of arch-rivals Germany and Netherlands facing off. but still a great match up of great European teams. Spain and Netherlands both have not won a world cup meaning it will now be 8 teams that have one the world cup after the final. both teams are know for there attacking flare but Spain has been a very defensive team in this cup only allowing 3 goals in 6 games while the Netherlands have attacked a lot, scoring 12 goals in 6 games. Make sure to tune in Sunday at 130 on ABC to see the winner and a great game.

Prediction:Netherlands 2 Spain 1
what are your prediction for the game?

Wade and Bosh Teaming up to form Dynamic Duo

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!
Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have joined forces and teamed up in Miami, according to ESPN sources. This gives Miami a very formidable duo that can compete for championships for years to come. This also poses the question: how will this affect the decision of LeBron James. If LeBron decides to join the duo in Miami, this team may be unbeatable. Two of these stars can have an off night, and they could still win. This also would rival one of the greatest trios of all time in Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman. LeBron will announce his decision on Thursday at 9p.m. on ESPN.  Post your predictions on where LeBron will land.

There were many questionable decisions with this roster. One was the selection of Omar Infante as an NL Reserve. He is hitting a nice .309 on the year, but only has one home run and twenty-two RBIs. This is by far the least of any All-Star. Another is Michael Bourne, hitting just .260 with one home run. These selections were made by Charlie Manuel, the Phillies manager. An interesting question made with the selection was leaving Steven Strasburg off the roster. Yes, he only has a handful of starts, but many believed he was deserving of a selection. Another was leaving Jered Weaver, a strikeout leader off the American League roster. Share your opinions of the selections.

Netherlands Stun Brazil

The Netherlands have defeated Brazil 2  to 1 in the quarterfinals of the FIFA World Cup.  This turned out to be a historical game, as this was the first time Brazil has lost in its World Cup history after leading at halftime.  Robinho scored in the tenth minute to give Brazil a one nothing lead, but the Netherlands played hard the rest of the half to keep the score close.  In the second half, Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo knocked in an own goal to tie the game at one.  This was just the beginning of his nightmare.  When Wesley Sniejder scored in the 68th minute to give Brazil the lead, Melo was the defender who was supposed to be marking him.  He later received a red card for stomping on the leg of a Netherlands player who was on the ground.

Are steroids better entertainment for baseball?

Ever since Major League Baseball became stricter on steroids, there has been a steady decline in home runs. This year's pitching has generally been much better. Pretty much 3 perfect games (sorry Galarraga) and a whole bunch of no hitters; there has never been more than 2 perfect games in a season. Are these pitching feats more exciting to watch than steroidal home runs? Or are people more apt to watch better hitting?

Champion no More?

Arguably the greatest tennis player in the history of the game, Roger Federer will drop to number 3 in the ATP rankings for the first time since 2003. That's seven years of being either 1 or 2 in the world. Unfortunately for all his fans, the classy, crowd pleasing Federer is by far having his worst year in the 'dominating' part of his career. Yes he won the Australian Open, but he hasn't won any other title this year. He lost his epic 23 in a row Grand Slam semi-finals streak and lost in quarter finals in both the French Open and Wimbledon. Federer did have a lung infection before the French Open, and claimed he had a leg and back injury during Wimbledon. Though the infection can't be avoided, this is one of Federer's first injury that he's ever complained about.
Does this mean Federer's age is catching up with him? The Swiss star is going to turn 29 this August, while most of the other top players are still in their early twenties. If Federer is to ever become a major threat in tennis again, he'll have to seriously reflect on this year and improve what's wrong. Since 2008, there are two parts to Roger's game that have critically worsened. First, his consistency has been horrible (to be fair, that's just compared to his old self) as of late, especially on his backhand side. Opponents are just pounding it to Fed's backhand, and he often just slices the ball back. A weak slice often ends up with a setup approach shot from the other player. More importantly though, Federer has seemingly lost his ability to get himself out of any situation. He used to be able to come back from incredible deficits and hit the huge shot or serve when it mattered most. Even last year against Andy Roddick in the Wimbledon final he managed to come back from 6-2 down in a tiebreaker to save himself. This year against Tomas Berdych in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, Federer went up 0-40 (on Berdych's serve) but failed to win that game, so then Berdych evened the 4th set at 3-3. Once Federer was broken that set, Berdych served for the match at 5-4. Federer had an opportunity with another break point AND a second serve, but he dumped the return right into the net. He went on to lose in 4 sets. This match was completely uncharacteristic of the old, dominating Federer.
So what will happen in Federer's future? Having dropped to number 3, he will no longer be able to become 1 again this year. He is only a week behind Sampras for most total weeks at number 1 (Federer's 285 weeks to Sampras' 286). Personally, I am rooting for him to overtake Sampras in that category, but it will take a lot of work for him after this year's disappointments and the incredibly talented players he'll face in tournaments. Federer should definitely get a coach or some other sort of help if he wants to win more Grand Slams. He has 16 now, but I think he only has 1 or 2 left in him, if he composes himself back to better form. As of now, the Swiss Maestro's reign of controlling tennis is over from what it used to be. However, Roger Federer is still a threat and will continue to be so for the rest of his career, and it'll be interesting to see if he can return to form and put his name further in the record books.

USA New look in 2014

Okay, so compared to the average American I am a soccer expert. But in the scheme if things I am far from one. One thing I know for sure is that the future of us soccer both on and off the field is bright. So knowing this I will try the impossible predicting the 23 players that will make the world cup roster four years from now. Hell I would be happy if I get 1/4 of the player right. I will do this based of the normal scheme of three goalies, eight defenders, eight midfielders and 4 strikers.

Goalies (3):

Tim Howard(Everton, English Primer League;31) ; goalies become good in soccer in there mid-thirties, Howard will be 35 next world cup meaning he could be better then he is now. Hard to belief because he is all ready one of the best in the world.

Brad Guzan (Aston Villa, English Primer League; 25); a young up-in-comer tagged has the replacement for Howard in the future so unless he gets hurt he will be on the team.

Samir Badr (FC Porto, Portugal; 18); a much younger prospect then Guzan. He is over looked because of the slightly older aged prospect Bill Hamid (D.C united, MLS). But his European experience can only help his chances.

Defenders (8):

Oguchi Onyewu(AC Milan,Italy;28); he will be 32 which is a little but old for the world cup but he will be the only veteran on the back- line because the other 3 starter in this world cup will be well over 32 and are to old to make the team. And a veteran on the back-line during a world cup is almost a must.

Omar Gonzalez (Los Angeles galaxy, MLS; 21); he is a young up-and-comer and could be looking for a move to Europe in the near future.

Gale Agbossoumonde (Sporting Braga, Portugal; 19); another young player European experience is priceless in this sport.

Tim Ream (New York RedBull, MLS; 22) currently in his rookie season with New York, he is also very likely to win the MLS rookie of the year this season. With 4 year to go he could easily spend a year or two in Europe playing before the world cup.

Eric Lichaj (Aston Villa, English premier league; 21) what can I say another young up-and-comer. His time in Europe will again be a huge advantage over his opposition.

Kevin Alston(New England Revolution,MLS;22) coming in to his rookie season last year he was expected to be a good average play but he has quickly become one of the best right backs in MLS.

Jonathan Bornstein(Chivas USA,MLS;25) after a good performance at Left back at this years world cup he is as close to a lock as you can get unless there is a complete break down. There are also many rumors about moves south of the border. A move which will be a good move because of the great attacking play in Mexico can only help a defender.

Jonathan Spector (West Ham United, English Premier League; 24) he can play either left or right back, but is much better on the right. His experience in Europe will be a big help to this young back line.

Midfielders (8): * this is the deepest hardest spots to pick

Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy, MLS; 28) while he will be 32 a little old. He is Landon Donovan enough said. There are also reports of moves to Everton and the richest club in the world Manchester City both in the English premiere league a move which can only help his chances

Clint Dempsey(Fulham, English Premier League;27) he will be 31 ageing for an international soccer player. He still will be a great player ahead of most other on the team.

Michael Bradley(Borussia Monchenglabac,germany;22) he has the brightest future of any us player. With rumors of move to arsenal and many other clubs in England. And was one if not the best player on the us team during this world cup.

Maurice Edu(ranger,Scotland;24) a player that is still young and has a good development curve. He will only get better with rangers. After this world cup he also might get interest from bigger European teams

Stuart Holden(Bolton, English Primer League;24) while he did not make a appearanceIn this world cup after making the roster the move to Bolton will greatly help his development.

Benny Feilhaber (AGF Aarush;Denmark;25)his performance at this years world cup will certainly draw much attention from bigger European club. His attacking flare is a need Part of the us team.

Jose Fransisco Torres(Pachuca,Mexico,22) a great attacking player and a smart decision maker is a needed part of this team. I see a move to Spain in his near future a move which will only help his chances.

Sebastian Lletget(West Ham, English Primer League;18) this was my hardest decision. But being this young and coming form a team that has produced players like Joe Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard and other great English players for bigger clubs is only a plus.

Forwards(4):

Jozy Altidore(Villarreal C.F.,Spain;20) he is only 20 and has a world cup under his belt. While he did not score in that world, ha played well in other parts of the field.

Charlie Davies(Sochaux,France;24) if he can return to his pre-crash world cup form, he could be the one to help jozy to get back on the scoring path.

Yura Movsisyan(Randers; Denmark;22) this is a stretch for most people and I know this but he has played and scored regularly in Europe something that can not be said about most us players.

Chris Pontius(D.C. United,MLS;23) this is again a very hard decision because of the lack of qualified forwards. But Pontius is a young up-in-comer that could use world cup experience

Coach(1):

Jurgen Klinsmann; a German coach that took Germany to a third place finish in the 06World cup and was also the coach of Bayern Munich during the 08 09 season. This coaching resume is more then enough to make him the coach add to the fact he has lived in America for many years helps a lot. He was offered the job for the 2010 world cup cycle but turned down after a dispute over the power he would have. But I believe that both sides will work very hard to get a deal done this time around.

Most players are very young, but something that is not seen very often is despite there very young age most play in Europe. A new trend in American soccer, which will only help the national team. I believe that the future is very bright for this team and country.

Do you agree or disagree with my sections? Who do you think will be the coach? Will soccer ever catch on in this country?

FIFA World Cup

I think we can all agree the World Cup is extremely interesting, but what about the terrible referees? The USA lost two goals to bad calls, and now England and Germany were hurt in the elimination round. That brings up the idea of instant replay in soccer. How about goal line technology? But what about offsides? If a review shows a offsides called that wasn't, what do you do? Reward a free kick? Share your opinions.
